About Arawak Expeditions:
Arawak Expeditions is a small, family-run outfitter that specializes in sea kayaking tours and adventure tours in the U.S. and British Virgin Islands. Founded in 1992, Arawak has been running summer kayak trips for teenagers for six years. Our new Summer Youth Program is a 21-day program, consisting of a five-day kayaking and camping expedition in the British and U.S. Virgin Islands, PADI certification in SCUBA diving, day hikes in the Virgin Islands National Park on St. John, mountain biking in St. John, a five-day sail aboard a fifty-foot sailboat in the British Virgin Islands, and a service project. Our mission with our youth program is to challenge, to teach and to inspire young people, resulting in maturity, self-confidence and personal growth.

About the owners:
Arthur Jones is the president and founder of Arawak Expeditions. A native of Nashville, Tennessee, Arthur is an alumnus of Montgomery Bell Academy in Nashville and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. A former instructor with the Hurricane Island Outward Bound School, Arthur has been professionally leading outdoor adventures for 15 years. In 1990, he moved to St. John to guide sea kayaking tours and has lived here since. Arthur is also a U.S. Coast Guard licensed captain.
Beth Jones is the behind-the-scenes leader of Arawak Expeditions. A native of Madison, Georgia, she graduated from the University of Georgia in 1995 with a B.S. in Education. In 1995, she moved to St. John and in 1998, she and Arthur Jones married. They now have a 3-year old son, Evan.
